PHOTOSHOP WORKSHOP: SATURDAY, MARCH 3


STC will offer a Photoshop workshop Saturday, March 3 in Salmon Library Room 211. Sue Barbara, who has been teaching Photoshop to all age groups for over eleven years, will present an introductory and advanced session:

9:30-12:30: Introduction to Photoshop - This session focuses on editing images using the Crop, Magic Wand, Brush, Eyedropper, Type and Move tools.

1:30-4:30: Advanced Photoshop - This session focuses on using the Clone, Lasso, Quick Mask, Layers, Healing Brush and Layer Styles.

Participants can enroll in the workshop at the following rates:

Students: $15 one session/$25 both sessions

STC Members: $30 one session/$55 both sessions

Non-Members: $40 one session/$75 both sessions

EMINENT SCHOLAR LECTURE: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7

The UAHuntsville Business and Technical Writing Program, along with the Humanities Center, presents a lecture by Dr. Carl Herndl, “Engaging Science, Engaging Citizens: Rhetoric and Matters of Concern.” Dr. Herndl, a nationally recognized technical writing scholar from University of South Florida, will speak on the need for collaboration between science, communication, and citizens to address the large-scale problems facing society. The lecture will be held on Wednesday, March 7 at 7:00 in the UAHuntsville Chan Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

NEXT STC MEETING: TUESDAY, MARCH 20

The STC Council meeting will be held on March 20, 2012 at 5:30 pm upstairs at The Scene Lounge (Monaco Prive’Theater).  All members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.

AUBURN UNIVERSITY - APRIL IN AUBURN: SATURDAY APRIL 28

Auburn University's Master of Technical and Professional Communication Program (MTPC) is having their annual April in Auburn event (AiA) bringing students and professionals together to expand professional knowledge and discuss issues affecting the field of Technical and Professional Communication.

When:  Saturday, April 28, 2012
Time:  9:00 AM til 2:00 PM
Where:  The Auburn University Campus, The Haley Building 1206, The Laboratory for Usability, Communication, Interaction and Accessibility (LUCIA).

Breakfast and lunch are provided.
